2010 THEME FOR DALWORTH PARK CHURCH OF CHRIST

“BREAKING THE CHAINS THAT BIND US”

Ex. 1:5-14                                                                                                        1-10-2010 am

Intro: God’s people are meant to be free; free to grow, soar, prosper, free to enjoy the blessings of God and free to achieve. He even wants us free to serve him without all of the entanglements of the world. But then, the reality of life is that too many of us are not free. We are in bondage and burdened down. This bondage causes us to exist in a life of misery, sorrow and rigorous labor. This year is your year to break the chains that bind you as you cry out “I want to be free!”

There is in the bible a people who was much like we are today; destined to be free, but finding themselves in bondage and just living out a miserable existence.

I. God’s people are destined for great things. (Ex. 1:1-7)

How do we know this?

A. Because God had already delivered them from something. (Ex. 1:1, cf. Gen. 45:4-7)

B. Because God has already delivered you from some things and your full liberation is not yet realized.

C. Because God sends his blessings and favor upon those for whom he has a purpose. (Ex. 1:4)

Some may ask “If God has a destiny for me, then why am I in bondage today”?

II. The purpose of bondage. (Ex. 1:8-11, 13-14)

A. Your enemy uses bondage as a tool to control you and keep you in check. (Ex. 1:8-11, 13-14).

B. Disobedience and sin can lead to bondage which is the designed to get our attention which leads to repentance. (Judges 3:8

III. Pause, for an encouraging note: What God has blessed cannot be depressed.  (Ex. 1:12, 20)

IV. God sees your bondage and deliverance is on its way. (Ex. 3:6-10)

            A. God is your God, you may feel forsaken, but you still belong to God. (Ex. 3:6)

            B. God sees your bondage and hears your cries. (Ex. 3:7)

            C. God will deliver you and bless your life. (Ex. 3:8-10)

JUBILEE

Lev. 25:8-12                                                                                                    1-10-2010 pm

Intro: The God that we serve is a God of second chances and redemption. We may get ourselves into situations, but he specializes in setting us free; time and time again.

Everyone one needs to experience a series of Jubilees in their lives and when we do we are to experience four things.

I. Rest (Lev. 25: 3-5)

II. Release (Lev. 25: 10)

III. Rejoicing (Lev. 25:12)

IV. Remembering (Lev. 25: 18-22)
